I taught Space Physics for the first time this past spring, and it proved to be more challenging than I expected. Part of the challenge is balancing the varied backgrounds and interests of the students with a more traditional (theoretical) treatment of the topic. I tried to find a balance – and I’m not sure I did a great job! But I have some ideas for how to improve the course in the future, and I expect that as more students are coming to OU with an interest in astrophysics that this course will see some majors changes the next time I teach it.
