Meet the Author
Brad Smith is a Professor of History at Oglethorpe University.
Brad received his Bachelor of Arts at University of Michigan and his Ph.D at Emory University.
His primary area of interest is the history of late medieval and early modern Central Europe. Most of his work has been centered on the region of Franconia, although I also have strong interests in the surrounding regions–Swabia, Bavaria, Thuringia, and the Czech lands. His current project is a study of the witch hunts in Bamberg in the early seventeenth century. One of his general concerns is the relationship between religion and policitcs, both on the level of the state, as well as within villages. He has also published on questions of political theory and resistance theory.
About the Book
The following text was prepared in large part owing to endless demands for my notes. The text constitutes a narrative history of the west from the Bronze Age to the seventeenth century.
